which antibiotics are the best

Dr Dolphin was part of the team who first demonstrated that mutations in the FMO3 gene are the cause of the inherited (primary form) of TMAU.

which antibiotics are the best

Hi there,

I've just been diagnosed with TMAU but although my doctor is sympathetic he admits to knowing nothing about the condition. He has given me some anti-biotics but they are not one of the three listed as being prescribed to TMAU sufferers. He's givenn me Nivemycin Sulphate which I understand are used to treat the bowel before an operation.

Will these work? I'm a bit concerned about the word "sulphate" as thought we were meant to avoid these.

He gave me extra tablets saying I can choose when I want to repeat the course but I also read somewhere that it's best to rotate the different antiobiotics to prevent the body building up a resistance is this true?

Sorry - one last quick question. I'm also taking Nullo and B2. Is it alright do you think to take these as long as it's not too close to taking the antibiotics.

Thanks

Hi

Metronidazole and neomycin are the most commonly used antibiotics in TMAu.
