TMAU QUESTIONS

Hi! Hoping you guys can't answer some questions for me. I'm currently waiting for a referral after speaking to my GP which is great, however he is completely clueless to the disease so unable to help! My questions are..

Is it possible to develop a fault in your genes late in life? I have done a urine test which suggested tmau1, however I only started experiencing symptoms at 23.

Does the smell always come out in sweat? I have no problems at the gym, but can be sat there still and suddenly get a whiff.

Has anyone got a copy of a really low choline food list?

Cheers!

my amateur answer re tmau and age :

there are 2 variables :
the 'enzyme % function' and 'the load'

i think many have small genetic faults and over time the load can cause a problem

maybe think of it as a 2 litre bucket and a load of 1.5l
a normal person can handle that
1.9l bucket and 1.7l load. still ok
1.5l bucket and 2l load ... overload

many people here seem to develop the problem late in life
I would say if you got it later it should be easier to 'drift away from the danger zone' (in theory)
many people post here a while then disappear. maybe they are the success stories
