PS: urine sample

Postby LJNLindsay » Mon Nov 04, 2013 11:56 pm

I read that the usual method for collecting a sample would require what is known as a '24 hour' urine collection - during a prolonged period, urine is collected into a 2.5 litre container with 10 mls of ‘5M’ hydrochloric acid to acidify the sample and stabilise the trimethylamine.

However, I have been given a one-off small pot to take a 10ml sample during mid-flow urination when I first visit the bathroom on the day of the test, & also a rather small pot containing the acid into which (I assume) I decant said urine collection?

I would be grateful of any thoughts...

This test has been a battle to get so, I don't want to mess it up as I'm sure my GP wouldnt let me take it again :-(

Yes Mr Manning prefers HCL and a sample from a 24-hour container.

But he does accept any type as long as you tell him.
