Thanks for the additional info Kittycat.
I should have carried on with the probiotics, but I stopped.
At the time of taking body mint, boots probiotics, vit B2 I had a terrible stomach and visited the toliet over 25 times within 2 1/2 days. Could not work out if it was food poisoning or all these supplements, plus had just taken the antibiotics a week or so before.
I did carry on for a while with the probiotics, but got an upset stomach (with a horrible jelly stuff).
Sorry this sounds disgusting, so I stopped taking the probiotics.
Will try them again, as you advised before xmas.
Thanks again for all your advice.

SK,

have the boots probiotics got FOS in them ? Sometimes more 'commercial' products have prebiotics in them like Fructo-Oligo Saccharides (?) which Ive heard can have this affectt on some (i get this 'rush to the loo' effect from sugar - natural in fruit - or the good stuff like sweeties) Just a thought. Of all the diet / supplement things from the TMAU protocol, the probiotics (on their own) are the thing Im keeping up with most.

Hi, here are the results of my second test,

Did anyone knows what it means,
tmau 1 or tmau 2 ?

Urine creatinine 7,4
TMA 48,8
TMA n Oxide 66,8
TMA/TMA n Oxide 0,73

the sample in nov 2010 :
TMA 240,3
TMA oxide 1045
TMA/TMA n Oxide 0.23

The specialist in Belgium write me all medication of the protocol too.
charcoal, chlorophyll, riboflavine, neomycine, bifiteral
But he says that he can't detect anything on me.
So said my collegue today...???? I do not ask it anymore on workplace....

My results both were taken during menstruation,
I think this must have an influence on the results.

Hi Flower

Your 2nd result does seem to suggest a genetic TMAU case due to FMO3 deficiency. The first one was a borderline case, although obviously the amount of TMA and TMAO was very high.

You seem to have got the amount of TMA and TMAO down to a much lesser level (more than tenfold ?), although you seemed to oxidize a lesser % of TMA in the 2nd test.

You are right that menstruation can affect some women's FMO3 capacity. Some have been recorded as going from 90% to 60% during menstruation.

Ideally, I would do the urine test about 5 times or until a pattern develops. Sometimes the results seem to contradict each other. Although I expect Drs wouldn't gladly sanction 5 tests.

Have you done the DNA test ?

Thanks Poetfire,

Thanks for your suggestions. The tmau test was negative, but only tested for one gen.
The FMO 3 gen was intact I thought. It seems two totally different results. But I guess I will never know what it means.

Your Nov test implies quite a bad TMAU2 case, with your TMAU1 being borderline.

The 2nd result your TMAU2 seems almost under control, but the TMA/TMAO ratio was quite high, suggesting you didn't convert as much to TMAO as expected (TMAU1)

I think in your case you would need to do a few urine tests to see the real trend. A lot of people's results seem to vary or even contradict.

Only FMO3 gene need to be tested for TMAU DNA test as far as I know.

Have a nice Easter

Hi chocomaid,

Just read your post (know it was a while back so hope you're still using the forum)

I have just had my test results back and they sound very similar to yours.
TMA 36.6,
TMA -n-oxide 64.0
TMA/TMA-n-oxide=0.57
Unine creatinine=5.2

Doctor suspects TMAU1 but refuses to do genetic testing

I'm only 42 but approaching early menopause (runs in the family) which is why the odour is getting so much worse.

Did they suggest that once you are over the menopause then TMAU will go away :D or at least become less of an issue.

I've had to fight for a dietician but an now on a waiting list. Did you give up or did you get one in the end?

Hope you're doing o.k
