Calcium, Mag, Zinc supplements

Postby smelly » Wed Sep 22, 2010 6:19 pm

Hi idealist,

I hope you dont mind that I have started this thread for you (since you said you were having trouble) so you can keep everyone informed of your journey with the calcium magnesium zinc supplements. I was worried all your hard work might get lost amongst other posts. If it all gets posted under TREATMENT section then when people come to this site for ideas they will know who to thank for this particuar tip! Keep it up. And even if you decide after your trial that these supplements arent making a big enough difference to continue taking them, that in itself is very useful to know so thank you for being so considerate and letting us know about this experiment! :)

If I could smell myself better I would have done the same thing, working my way through all the suggested supplements and posting what I found helped and what didnt. Unfortunately I think its quite common for people with TMAU not to be able to smell themselves :x and since theres no research going on into medication for the condition we are entirely reliant on you with the noses

Yes, it is a subjective thing.
I could not smell myself neither could my boyfriend, but according to my neighbours I stunk the house out!!!!!!!
Now that I am getting better with the TMAU protocol I can smell myself some of the time (not much). Plus my sense of smell is coming alive to things around me.
Also, other people I know do not smell me, but some do. I know children can usually smell me, cause their sense of smell it better.

Thank you Smelly.

I have been very busy and have not had time to post. The calcium, mag, zinc, supplements worked on day 1. I felt sick for one day but I also felt clean inside. However after that first initial try I have not had the same results.

However the supplements may reduce some of the odour for some people but it is not that effective for me. I still have about 50 supplements left so I will continue.

If anyone does want to take them then make sure your food has been properly digested and they are taken at night. Only take two at night.
I have tried to add extra zinc supplements and active charcoal. However I still smell!! Funny that as the doctor said that I do not have TMAU!!

PS:
it is not that I can smell myself at all times it is more of a feeling and energy. Sometimes I feel heavy and unclean (although I have had a bath etc.) I believe all illness and conditions are all created for a reason.

If we are having a problem with odour it is affecting our social and communication skills. we become more defensive, cut off, yes all of this is a lesson that we have endured to learn more about ourselves. Also for other people to learn more about themselves (how they treat other.) I feel very ego state of mind now. I am constantly looking for approvement (do I smell?)from other people. I am worried about what people are thinking and saying. I feel that my life can never be 'normal' now and that is a shame. I have a lot to offer like all of you guys. I am now stuck in my 5 senses.

This is humiliating and it hurts to have people laugh or be angry with you because of the way you/we smell.
Anyway life is just one big lesson. Mother Theresa believed that the poor and the people that suffered the most were the people closer to 'God'. Okay I am not poor and I know that other people are suffering more than myself. However this 'smell' is not a normal condition! As we can see from this site pills/ diets do not work for everyone. On top of that people see as some kind of evil beings or people who do not care about their personal hygiene (not true). We are blamed no sympathy, just blamed (not by all but by most people).

My neighbour has told me about MMS (Miracle Mineral Supplement) and tells me it will work. I am still unsure, although she said it worked for her!
Updates soon.

Hi Idealist, sorry to butt in but smelly's having a hot bath :) I've just had my interim test result email and it said that they can now test for Dimethylglycinuria using the same urine sample. I'd never heard that one so looked it up, it seems there are a few closely related conditions that can cause smelliness. I've written down Isovaleric Acidemia so that might have been another one. Your doc might be like ones we've all had, and decided you're just neurotic . :x Can I gentley suggest you look up the other conditions and see if you find any that might fit you, and ask for another test. If you can afford it privately, I can recommend Mullhaven Lab.Love kittycat

Thanks Kittycat,

I will look it up.
PS: I was tested up at the specialist hospital with the Dr who comments on this site. So he knows what he is talking about (I guess). I also know that I have similar smells to the ones described on this site. It is all one big mystery to me but what can I do but to keep on trying.

Thanks x

Idealist, thank you so much for letting us have an update on the supplements. thats something for people to try, and for those who are working their way through a long list of ideas, it helps them prioritze which are most likely to work first - its such an expensive condition to live with and any money we can save is appreciated :)

And kittycat, I personally believe that some of us might have a range of enzymes not working properly, causing those other conditions you are talking about. I have been told I smell of eggs , cheese urine etc which you would expect with those conditions. I had tried to enquire about getting tested for a panel of those metabolic conditions, contacting private labs and charities that deal with children suffering from them, but I never got any replies and concentrated on just getting tested for TMAU since there seemed to be a pathway to that at least. I cant think why anyone would smell strongly of cheese if they havent eaten any for weeks. (Unless its a smell you can get from fungus/candida?)

Smelly, try my 'overnight mini right wrist sauna' it might work  I would be surprised if I had Dimethylglycinuria as they say it causes muscle weakness, (and I laid my patio with no help from him indoors who lay on the sofa watching the footie, and was then so exausted he had to go to the pub!!) but if you think you might, I think the telling phrase from Mullhaven was ' we can now test for Dimethylglycinuria....' Perhaps there were no tests generally available at that time, and that's why they (rudely) didn't reply to your emails.Kx
